Residence

The residence is located on an elevated site, offering expansive views of the surrounding landscape. The design takes advantage of the site’s natural topography, with a stone base anchoring the structure while the lightweight, glass-enclosed upper level floats above. The interior reflects a minimalist philosophy, with neutral tones and clean lines complementing the exterior's contextual design. The project focuses on creating a seamless dialogue between the indoor and outdoor environments.

The approach was rooted in ALTUS Architecture + Design’s principle of progressive contextualism. Key elements include: Site Responsiveness: The stone base integrates with the terrain, minimizing disruption while providing a strong foundation. The glass façade opens the residence to natural light and views, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Materiality: A carefully curated material palette of stone, wood, and concrete was chosen to evoke a sense of permanence and warmth, grounding the residence in its natural context.

Spatial Dynamics: The open floor plan fosters connectivity between spaces, while the interplay of light and shadow enhances the spatial experience. The cantilevered roof adds visual lightness and extends the architecture into the landscape. Sustainability: Passive design strategies, such as maximizing natural light and ventilation, ensure environmental efficiency and occupant comfort.
